The piano is the only accompanying instrument on this sixth studio album by the singer in dark glasses. However, Philippe Powell does not only play the role of accompanist on these sweet songs: here and there, he slips his honeyed voice under that, always suave, of Melody Gardot. His piano is sometimes bluish, sometimes bouncy (To the Eiffel tower), and touched in a delicate way, even in the more toned bluesy moments.

Installed in France for years, Melody Gardot offers here three songs in French: stronger than us, To the Eiffel tower and Sunday flowers, romantic songs that go perfectly with the singer accustomed to subdued atmospheres. Philippe Powell leads the dance on Samba Em Preludio (A day without you)which he begins in Portuguese and where the American takes over in French – and a little in the language of João Gilberto.

Between these two, the current passes, the music flows and elegance dominates. The poems of one and the other combine with fluidity, even in the most economical moments like Ode to Every Mancloser to spoken word what a song. Between them two does not go off the beaten track. It extends a little more, however, the universe of Melody Gardot with the good taste that we know and has everything you need to put sweetness in our end of the day. What more ?
