It puts an end to the unchallenged reign of Guillaume Musso. The novelist Mélissa Da Costa took first place in book sales in 2023, according to the annual ranking of the ten best-selling writers in France established by the GfK institute, which was revealed by Le Figaro Wednesday January 17. Guillaume Musso, who had occupied this place for 12 years, fell to sixth place due to lack of anything new published last year.
Mélissa Da Costa, 33, sold 1.275 million copies over the year. His title Phantom Painsreleased in paperback in February, was the ninth best-selling book, and All the blue of the sky the eleventh. Another author to exceed one million copies (1.063 million), Virginie Grimaldi, whose greatest success in 2023 was We will be left with this, is second. Followed by Pierre Lemaitre (853,000 copies), Maud Ankaoua (801,000) and Franck Thilliez (681,000).
