These athletes have overcome hardships and made their handicap a driving force. “I never imagined making a job out of it. It changed the situation of having an accident and the possibility of reaching a high level in a discipline”says Emmanuelle March, professional wheelchair tennis player, Sunday April 16. “It’s the idea of going to meet people, to have fun on a sport that I liked to practice as a hobby at college level”says Fabien Lamirault, gold medalist table tennis player at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo (Japan), in 2021.
