On the side of Valenciennes (North), an opera was mounted on a bus to introduce opera to audiences who do not have access to it. Everywhere in France, itinerant initiatives are multiplying.

In the early morning, Bernard Contant crosses the icy roads of the North. “We are going to a college to do a small performance”, tells the driver and stage manager at the wheel of his bus transformed into a traveling opera. “An Italian theater“, he describes. Only 29 places are available in the small space, full of little tricks. The actors put on their costumes in the village school. “The objective of the Opérabus is to be able to meet audiences who have never set foot in a theater”, explains Yannick Lemaire, the creator of the project. The public is conquered.

The proliferation of itinerant cultural initiatives

A journey reminiscent of the troubadours. “And the troubadours travel by bicycle”, recalls journalist Valérie Heurtel. “This is what this symphony orchestra did last summer with a 100% green tour for the first time. 250 km between Grenoble and Geneva. 25 concerts in small towns”, explains the journalist. In the North, it is the town hall of Faches-Thumesnil which invited a theater group to create a link between the inhabitants.
