Mayennaise Heidi Gaugain, world team pursuit champion

The young cyclist from Mayenne, Heïdi Gaugain won the title of team pursuit world champion with his comrades from the French team at the Junior World Track Cycling Championships in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The French, Heïdi Gaugain, Clémence Chéreau, Aurore Pernolle and Lara Lallemant beat Italy and Germany during this event contested on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A first competition of this level with the able-bodied

Heïdi Gaugain was a member of the Vélo Saint-Georges Aventure club in Mayenne before joining the Espoir para-cycling center in Bayonne a year ago. The Mayennaise was born without a left forearm and participates in cycling competitions (road and track) with a prosthesis. There, it is with the valid France team that the Mayennaise was selected.

This Friday, Heïdi Gaugain must participate in the points race for these World Championships. In the longer term, the Mayennaise hopes to be able to participate in the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
