An elderly man in his forties lost his life in a road accident in Louiseville, Mauricie, on Sunday evening.
Police officers from the MRC de Maskinongé were called shortly before 6 p.m. about a violent collision that occurred on Chemin de la Grande-Carrière.
According to initial information, the driver would have first lost control of his vehicle before finishing his race against a tree.
Having suffered serious injuries, the victim was transported to a hospital where he was declared dead, said Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
A police officer specializing in collision investigation was requested on the spot to analyze the scene and try to determine the exact circumstances of this exit from the road, it was added.
