The trip wasn’t too long… and she wouldn’t have missed it for the world! On Saturday September 3, 2022, Queen Matilda left her Belgian lands, with her husband King Philippe, to go to France, to Normandy. And it is to attend a beautiful event that the couple had packed their bags. The sovereign of Plat-Pays set foot in Pont-l’Evêque, a charming town in Calvados, to attend the wedding of his youngest brother, Count Charles-Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz.
Rainy wedding, happy wedding. But windy marriage? The future will tell ! Queen Mathilde and King Philippe braved the gusts to hear Count Charles-Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz say “yes“to his companion, the beautiful Caroline Philippe, in the Saint-Michel church in Pont-l’Évêque. The Queen of Belgium had opted for a superb green ensemble, consisting of a cape dress, a fancy headgear and an elegant clutch. She was, of course, not the only one to have put on her thirty-one.
Among the guests, experts on the royal family will have recognized three of Queen Mathilde’s four children and King Philippe: Princess Elisabeth, 20, Prince Emmanuel, 16, and Princess Eléonore of Belgium, 14. Prince Gabriel, their other 19-year-old son, does not seem to have been able to free himself to come to Normandy.
Count Charles-Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz is the youngest brother of Queen Mathilde. He was, until then, the last bachelor of the siblings. But now he has just taken the plunge, at the age of 37, uniting before the Lord with his partner. Count Charles-Henri is a lawyer by profession, specializing in town planning. Caroline Philipwho is now his wife, holds the position ofImpact Investing Manager at Telos Impact, an ethical investment consultancy firm located in Brussels, after having worked in the Private Equity arm of Rothschild & Co in Paris. We therefore wish a beautiful, long and happy life to the newlyweds!
