(Easton) A Massachusetts woman who had been missing since last week has been found alive in a swampy area of a national park after hikers heard her cries for help, police said.
The 31-year-old, Emma Tetewsky, had been missing since June 26 and police had in recent days appealed to the public for help in finding her.
Officers were called Monday night to Borderland State Park, about 30 miles south of Boston, after hikers reported 911 and said they heard a woman’s screams coming from a swampy area of the park. , according to Easton police investigators.
The police arrived and heard the cries of M.me Tetewsky through thick bushes, but couldn’t see her. Three officers then traveled approximately 15 meters through the swamp to reach Mme Tetewsky, authorities said.
Investigators said the woman could have been trapped in the swampy area for at least three days.
Mme Tetwesky was taken to hospital with injuries that investigators said were serious but not life-threatening.
