After Guadeloupe, it is in Martinique that the violence took an unprecedented form on the night of Thursday 25 to Friday 26 November. During the night of Thursday 25 to Friday 26 November, detonations rang out in Fort-de-France in Martinique. The police faced gunfire with tear gas canisters. Four police officers were slightly injured by pellets. A gendarme was hit by a car and four journalists were also shot.
On the dams, there is an atmosphere of urban guerrilla warfare. Trucks even drag the burnt carcasses of cars to reinforce the road blockage. In a residential area, young residents on motorcycles face heavily armed police. All night long, gangs broke and looted the shops. Some dams are still on fire in Martinique and several are still blocking the roads, Friday, November 26.
