In Martinique, the nights follow one another and are alike. Last night, new clashes between the police and demonstrators took place. The police were targeted by rioters.
In Fort-de-France, the police are trying to clear fire dams. For this fifth night of riots in Martinique, the atmosphere is tense. Shots are heard, the gendarmes retaliate with stun grenades. The GIGN now has a mission: identify the fencer (s). The rioters attack again and set fire to a car which they try to throw at the GIGN. a little more later, a van is thrown at the police. During the night of November 26 to 27, the armored vehicles were used for the first time in Martinique.
Saturday, November 28, the dumbfounded residents see the extent of the damage. The streets are like a battlefield. Special envoy to Martinique, the journalist France Télévisions Marc de Chalvron notes that the level of violence in Martinique is rising crescendo every day and “does not seem to have any more limits”.
