Marguerite Blais is on sick leave for an indefinite period

Two ministers from the Legault cabinet are currently on sick leave, Marguerite Blais and Nadine Girault.

We learned on Friday that the Minister responsible for Seniors, Marguerite Blais, was to take sick leave for an indefinite period. She suffers from professional exhaustion and at the same time has to deal with a persistent problem with one leg.

For Minister Blais, this is the second sick leave in a short time. She had had to be away for several weeks, starting in mid-August, to treat her leg pain. Apparently she would have returned to work too soon afterwards and the problem, the nature of which has not been disclosed, returned.

By mid-August, rumors had circulated that she was suffering from burnout, but her firm had categorically denied it.

Earlier this week, it was the turn of the Minister of Immigration and Minister of International Relations, Nadine Girault, to announce that she had to leave her post temporarily to undergo surgery.

In his case, this is the third sick leave in two years.

Last September, she had to suspend her activities for a few weeks, due to a back injury. In September 2019, she was forced to take a time out after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
