Easter: March salaries could be paid late

(FRANCEINFO)

Due to the Easter weekend, the European banking system will be shut down, and this could have consequences on the payment of salaries for the month of March.

When will salaries for the month of March be paid? Some bank transfers will be suspended between Friday March 29 and Monday April 1, since it is a public holiday. They will not resume until April 2. These few days of delay could penalize employees. To avoid this, a company wants to take the lead. The boss brought forward pay by two days, so that salaries would fall before the weekend. “It’s a little more complicated, because we go beyond the processes. (…) It’s a particularity that needs to be managed.”explains Benoît Paget, president of GreenBig.

Direct debits will also be suspended

Not every company will be able to do this. However, transfers, direct debits and check cashing will also be suspended. The entire European system is shut down because of public holidays. However, it will be possible to send money. Salary payments which would have been triggered during the Easter weekend should fall, at the latest, Thursday April 4.
