The day after the leaders’ debate, thousands of people took to the streets of Montreal on Friday to demonstrate “against the lack of audacity of the proposals of political parties” in the face of the climate emergency.

Several politicians have indicated their intention to participate in the event, including the Minister of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change, Benoit Charrette. Chiefs Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois (Québec solidaire) and Dominique Anglade (Liberal Party) will also be present.
Organized by a coalition of unions, student associations and community groups, a series of demonstrations are being held simultaneously in most major cities in Quebec. According to the organizers, more than 86,000 students and nearly 14,000 workers will strike on Friday to take part in the various demonstrations.
The press conference of the Minister of the Environment, Benoit Charette, was disrupted by many demonstrators who came to tell him that he was not welcome. He is notably accompanied by Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy.
“We have a record that is very interesting,” said Mr. Charette to boos.
Ministers Charette, Fitzgibbon and Jean-Francois Roberge decided to leave the demonstration under the boos and chants of the demonstrators who chanted ” nah nah nah hey hey goodbye “.
An agent of the Sûreté du Québec assigned to the security of the elected officials of the CAQ mentioned to the elected officials “that it was not an idea to stay”.
