Master Guisiano, Marc Giraud’s lawyer, speaks “earthquake“. The sentence pronounced by the Toulon Criminal Court this Friday morning is heavy for the President of the Departmental Council of Var: two years suspended prison sentence, 20,000 euros fine and five years of ineligibility. Marc Giraud is appealing but it is not suspensive. Marc Giraud can therefore no longer exercise his functions.
He was sentenced for acts committed between 2011 and 2015 as mayor of Carquairanne. An administrative agent would have received salaries – 96,000 euros – for a job that she would not have held.
In addition to Marc Giraud, the agent and two other defendants are sentenced to two years in prison suspended and 20,000 euros fine.
