The accused Marc-André Grenon admitted to having killed young Guylaine Potvin 24 years ago in Jonquière.
The man has been on trial for murder and sexual assault since mid-January.
The pleadings began Wednesday morning: the Crown pleads first and Me Pierre-Alexandre Bernard announced to the jury that the accused had finally admitted to having caused the death of the 19-year-old student on April 28, 2000.
The Crown had presented complex DNA evidence, based on judicial genealogy, to prove the identity of the author of this murder, left unanswered for two decades.
More details will follow.
