Has the executive heard François Bayrou’s criticism? Before the reshuffle, the president of MoDem deplored on franceinfo that almost all of the ministers were “Parisians or Ile-de-France residents” and “not one“neither be”from the south of the Loire“.
Since Thursday evening, the team of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is now complete. “This government looks a little more like France“, reacted this Friday on France 2 Patrick Mignola, vice-president of the centrist party. “I believe the right step has been taken“, he added. Does this government reflect the image of the country? franceinfo checked it.
To determine this, we examined the territorial anchoring of each of the 35 members of the government, Prime Minister included: where they were elected or still are. For those who have never been, like Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, we have retained the place of birth. Same thing for those sitting in the European Parliament. First observation: 40% are “stamped“Île-de-France, starting with Gabriel Attal, re-elected deputy for Hauts-de-Seine in 2022.
“That’s it, from now on there will be interlocutors all over the country“, also welcomed Patrick Mignola, also spokesperson for the MoDem. Of the 13 regions in France, 12 have one or more representatives in the government. After Île-de-France, Hauts-de-France, France and Occitanie come jointly in second place among the best represented regions, with three ministers, delegate ministers or secretaries of state.
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, is thus first deputy mayor of Tourcoing, in the North. Nicole Belloubet, Minister of National Education, has held several mandates in Haute-Garonne. The only region that does not have any government representatives is Corsica. As for the Overseas Territories, they don’t have any either.
