With the opening of the booster dose to all adults over the age of 18, many older people face a lack of doses at their vaccination center.

In this center near Rennes, it is impossible for an elderly couple to receive a third dose of vaccine. At the reception, we apologize: there is no more dose available. As the government has opened up the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to all adults over the age of 18, many older people are facing this problem. “There is a big gap between government announcements and reality on the site”, reports a disappointed patient. In two days, the caregivers therefore had to send home 80 priority people, reluctantly.

The situation is identical in this vaccination center in the Paris region. The only solution: wait for a possible withdrawal. The agenda is full, so it is not possible to take patients without an appointment. In Alsace, a center sets the tone from the start: no dose without an appointment. “The flow must be assured, we must have sufficient stocks and human resources”, justifies Laurent Burckel, head of a center in the Bas-Rhin. Without a reminder, a million people could lose their health pass. The Ministry of Health says it is aware of these difficulties and promises more doses and places to meet demand.
