Saturday June 1, thousands of demonstrators met in Paris to campaign in tribute to Clément Méric, who died eleven years ago. Other causes were also brought.
Despite the rain, thousands of demonstrators gathered in Paris to demonstrate against fascism on Saturday June 1st. “It’s been 11 years since Clément Méric was assassinated in the middle of a Paris street by far-right activists”recontextualizes Murielle Gilbert, co-delegate of the Solidaires trade union.
The news has caught up with the mobilization. At the call of the Urgence Palestine collective, many of them carried the voice of the Palestinian people. “We are all children of Gaza!”, chanted the demonstrators. The Kanak flag was also flown during the demonstration. This unique procession arrived in the calm Place Gambetta in Paris at the end of the afternoon before clashes broke out between demonstrators and the police. Some businesses were ransacked.
