A man in his forties was seriously injured by gunfire on Monday evening, September 23, in the northern districts of Marseille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, franceinfo learned on Tuesday from concordant sources.
According to a police source, this man was targeted by gunfire around 8:30 p.m. in the Belle-de-Mai district, located in the city’s 3rd arrondissement. The man was hit by four bullets in the abdomen and one bullet in the arm. His life is in danger.
According to the first elements of the investigation, it was a lone man who appeared armed in front of him, on foot, and who shot him. The investigation opened by the Marseille public prosecutor’s office, for “attempted assassination”was entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS, formerly the judicial police). “There is no evidence at this time to suggest a connection with any other procedure, particularly relating to offences against narcotics legislation.”the prosecution said.
This new shooting is the second in three days in this same neighborhood. On September 20, two individuals on a scooter opened fire at the “Moulin de Mai” drug dealing point before fleeing. A 17-year-old died, and his brother was seriously injured.
