Man found lifeless in Ville-Marie | First homicide of the year in Montreal

The man found lifeless in a vehicle parked in the Ville-Marie borough on Saturday morning was the victim of a murder, confirms the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). This is the first homicide to occur on its territory in 2024.

The victim was hit by at least one firearm projectile. His inert body was found in a truck which was then parked in the back alley of Logan Street, near Dufresne Street.

It is Charles Carrier, a 30-year-old man, who was able to confirm The Press. He was known to the police and had a long history of more than 10 years in trouble with the law.

Since 2011, he had been accused of various offenses in Montreal, but also in Quebec, Terrebonne, Beauharnois and Longueuil. His offenses included drug possession, firearm possession and fraud.

No resuscitation maneuver

His death was pronounced on the spot. No resuscitation maneuvers were carried out by the first responders, said agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM, on Saturday.

This is the first homicide to occur in Montreal this year.

A vast security perimeter was set up at the start of the day on Saturday, to allow investigators from the Major Crimes Section to comb the scene.

Potential witnesses or neighborhood members could be questioned during the investigation. Law enforcement will also try to check whether there are videotapes from surveillance cameras located nearby.
