Man charged with two murders in Vaudreuil-Dorion stabbings

The suspect in the stabbings that left two people dead and one injured Thursday in Vaudreuil-Dorion has been formally charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Fabio Puglisi, 44, was charged Friday morning with the murder of his 68-year-old mother and a 53-year-old neighbor. The victims are Élisabetta Puglisi-Caucci and Manon Blanchard.

Puglisi was also charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault against another neighbor in the building.

The Sûreté du Québec says the victims were stabbed Thursday in their apartment building in Vaudreuil-Dorion, in the western suburbs of the island of Montreal.

Sergeant Valérie Beauchamp, of the SQ, indicated earlier Friday that the 70-year-old woman who was transported to hospital in critical condition Thursday is now in stable condition.
