A man was arrested after the discovery of a woman’s body in Hemmingford, in Montérégie, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed Thursday afternoon.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the disappearance of Kelsey Watt, 29, of Hemmingford. He was met by investigators in order to clarify “what his involvement could be or not in the case,” indicates a press release from the SQ.
The provincial police force could not immediately provide more details, and did not confirm whether the body found is indeed that of Kelsey Watt, a 29-year-old woman who had been missing since Saturday.
The police investigation continues into this matter. An autopsy will be carried out to confirm the identity of the victim and clarify the causes of death.
A major search has been carried out in Hemmingford in recent days in hopes of locating Kelsey Watt, who was last seen on Saturday at around 12:30 p.m. on Covey Hill Road.
