Man arrested after threatening worshipers at Lille mosque in video

A 23-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody on Thursday June 23 after posting a video on social networks in which he threatens worshipers of the Lille-Sud mosque, the Lille prosecutor’s office told franceinfo.

A judicial inquiry has been opened for “death threat to a group of people belonging to a religion” and for “apology for terrorism”, specifies the prosecution. The man admitted the facts during the first hearings and indicates “having acted under the influence of alcohol”adds the parquet floor of Lille.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said in a tweet that the national police “secure the mosque since yesterday” on his instruction. And that “for as long as necessary”, specifies the Minister of the Interior. He also thanked the police “for their responsiveness”after the arrest.
