Mac Lesggy’s rant against Gilles Clément, which will not please environmentalists

When he doesn’t like something, or doesn’t agree with an idea, Mac Lesggy never hesitates to let it be known. The scientist and animator ofM6 proved it once again this Thursday, February 23. Especially when Gilles Clément answered questions from Sonia Devillers on France Inter on the occasion of the reissue of his bestseller “Praise of the Vagabonds”. During his visit, the gardener and landscaper also wanted to denounce the use of certain pesticides that would be dangerous for the ecosystem.

In particular one of the best known, glyphosate. This chemical substance is mainly used in plant protection products intended for agriculture and horticulture or neonicotinoids as explained Medadom. But Gilles Clément also pointed the finger at the use of neonicotinoids. Insecticides used in agriculture that target the central nervous system of insects according to the JDD. A substance also banned in France by the European Court but that some farmers still use.

Mac Lesggy does not agree with Gilles Clément, he lets him know

A use that Gilles Clément does not understand, as the latter indicated during his visit to France Inter : “it kills everything, absolutely everything: and we close our eyes to it, it’s shameful”. A statement that does not seem to have convinced Mac Lessgy. In fact, the host ofM6 was quick to speak through his Twitter account. Notably to contradict the gardener and landscaper.

“About Café du Commerce. I have a lot of respect for the great landscape architect Gilles Clément, but he should refrain from playing Sunday toxicologists”first let Mac Lessgy know before giving arguments to support his remarks: “The #glyphosate herbicide kills plants on contact -logically-, but it is so little persistent that it has no effect on the young shoots that sprout in the days following its application”. After “defending” glyphosate, the scientist focused on neonicotinoids. “Millions of dogs and cats in France are soaked in it to fight against fleas; neither they nor their masters seem bothered by it. Less fortunate, farmers have seen most uses removed from it…”, he lamented. The man with the famous glasses finally concluded by recalling that there remained the BàS seed in coating which comes “to be deleted by the CJEU”. Examples that made it possible to ask Gilles Clément to “be serious” because “no one closes their eyes”.
