LR Senator Agnès Evren wants ministers in key positions such as “Finances”while the Prime Minister is still consulting and is expected at the parliamentary return of the LR at 4:30 p.m. in Annecy. On franceinfo Thursday, September 12, the senator from Paris recalls that “control of public accounts is a marker of the right”emphasizing the situation “catastrophic” public finances. She also asks for an LR minister “on sovereign issues”without giving a name.

“The goal is not casting, it is to respond to the urgency of the situation and save France”says Agnès Evren, who plans “a warm welcome” in Annecy for Michel Barnier from the Republicans. But also to remind him of the “red lines” from the LR roadmap: “No increase in taxes, no reduction in retirement pensions, control of migration flows, control of public accounts, revaluation of work.”

The Republicans finally decided to participate in this Barnier government, after a categorical refusal by the LR leader in the Assembly, Laurent Wauquiez, at the end of the legislative elections. “This government is a government of unity which will go from the Republican left to the Republican right via the central bloc”assures the senator from Paris who explains that “neither the NFP nor the RN were capable of governing”.

To those who criticize the appointment of a Prime Minister from the party that won 5.4% of the vote in the legislative elections, Agnès Evren reminds us that the LR were “ready to support Bernard Cazeneuve (…) but it simply so happens that we are the only ones to have taken our responsibilities to avoid the blockage. Our political party is a party of government”. Agnès Evren says however “lucid” on the difficulties ahead for this government, “precarious lease”which could last only one year, in the event of a new dissolution.
