A man from Terrebonne would likely have attacked his friend to kill him, opening fire on him then stabbing him several times to the heart in a love triangle story, in the fall of 2021.

“Both traumas are fatal in themselves, whether it is the one done with the knife or the firearm. Both were done while the heart was beating […] and led to death,” explained forensic pathologist Caroline Tanguay at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.
She testified today at the jury trial of Simon Décarie. The 29-year-old man is accused of the premeditated murder of Maxime Villeneuve, who was his friend at the time.

The autopsy reveals that the victim had five wounds in the chest made by a sharp weapon, probably a knife, according to the DD Tanguay. The 27-year-old was cut to the heart three times and injured in the abdomen by a firearm projectile.

No chance
As much on the arms as on the hands, “we have no defensive wounds. This leads me to conclude that the firearm trauma probably happened before,” said the forensic pathologist.
A black spot also suggests that Maxime Villeneuve’s wrist was very close to the muzzle of the firearm at a certain moment.

He had virtually no chance of survival given the extent of his injuries, according to the DD Tanguay. He was killed around 11 p.m. in his apartment while his roommate slept in the next room, the trial heard yesterday.
Bullet holes in the walls
During the investigation, the police found cartridges on the exterior balcony as well as shell casings inside the residence. Projectile impacts also left holes in the ceiling and walls, according to photos from the scene presented.

Remember that neighbors quickly called 911 after hearing gunshots in the residential area. When the police arrived on site, they discovered Maxime Villeneuve, unconscious, who was still holding a burnt cigarette between his fingers.
According to the Crown’s theory, the young construction worker was involved in a love triangle. He had just started a relationship with Décarie’s ex-girlfriend. On October 6, 2021, he allegedly asked his friend for forgiveness by text message before being killed.
The trial continues next Monday.
