An explosion in a building in Longueuil on Monday afternoon injured three people, including two children, and turned into a fire.

An explosion shook the first floor of a quadruplex on Briggs Street West, in Longueuil, late Monday afternoon. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
A fire then spread to the first, then to the second floor of the building. Two children were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. A 50-year-old was also taken to hospital with facial burns. Three other people had to be evacuated, indicates Alain Lessard, division chief of the fire safety service of the City of Longueuil.
The blaze had not yet been brought under control, more than an hour after the appearance of the flames.
