Longueuil: a residence ravaged by a fire in Saint-Hubert

A man was injured in a fire that completely destroyed a residence in Saint-Hubert, on the South Shore of Montreal, on Friday morning.

The fire reportedly broke out shortly after 3 a.m. in a single-family residence located on Mackay Street, near Holmes Street, according to the Longueuil agglomeration fire safety service.

The victim, whose age was not specified, was alone at the time of the fire, which is not of criminal origin, said the Longueuil agglomeration police department.

She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters were still on the scene while the fire was largely brought under control, but the house is considered a total loss, it was said.

A mechanical shovel was also requested on site to shave the rest of the residence which seemed to be under renovation, it was added.
