(Salt Lake City) Quebecer Laurent Dubreuil continued his momentum by collecting a bronze medal in the 500-meter event of the Salt Lake City stage of the Long Track Speed Skating World Cup on Friday .
In a city located at altitude, fast lap times had to be expected, and Dubreuil took advantage of this favorable context by setting a personal best with a lap of 34.099 seconds.
Dubreuil finished just eight thousandths of a second behind Japanese silver medal winner Wataru Morishige (34.091). The winner of the event was Yamato Matsui, also of Japan, clocking 34.048 seconds.
It was a fifth consecutive podium.
Six other personal brands were made on Friday.
In the general classification over 500 meters, Dubreuil, who is from Lévis, remains in the lead with a total of 264 points.
The competition continues over the weekend.
