The Australian company Qantas will offer direct flights to reach Sydney (Australia) from London (United Kingdom) or New York (United States). To make the trip as comfortable as possible, it has signed a contract with the European Airbus, which must design suitable aircraft.
Nearly 20 hours will be needed to connect Sydney (Australia) to London (United Kingdom) or New York (United States) non-stop. The new offer was announced on the morning of Monday May 2 by the airline Qantas, thanks to the Airbus A350. “It’s about connecting any city in Australia, to any place in the world”Parade Alan Joyce, Chairman of Qantas.
A total of 12 Airbus A350s have been ordered by the Australian airline. For these direct flights of 17,000 km, adjustments will be necessary: “an extra fuel tank”, “more circulation space within the cabin” and “special lighting to follow time zones”, explains Arnaud Aymé, transport specialist at Sia Partners. The first flight is announced for 2025.
