One year after Lina’s disappearance in Bas-Rhin, the Strasbourg public prosecutor gave an update on the investigation on Thursday, September 19.

Was Lina in the wrong place at the wrong time? Now, the lead is that she was an opportunistic kidnapping. Investigations have shown that the suspect was alone in his car when Lina disappeared on a small road near her home. The young girl’s DNA was found inside the vehicle. This Thursday, September 19 in the morning, the prosecutor made new revelations. Strings with Lina’s DNA and Samuel’s DNA were detected.

Samuel Gonin was a man adrift. Since his divorce, he had committed a series of crimes and lived in his car. He drove aimlessly from one region to another. On the day of the disappearance, he was seen in Germany, in a stolen car, and then he was visible on video surveillance images near the place where Lina had disappeared, a few minutes before. The police did not have time to arrest him. The man committed suicide beforehand.
