Ligue 2 – Stade Lavallois: “We will have to make moves against teams like Bordeaux” believes Edson Seidou

This Monday, October 3, Stade Lavallois will experience one of the highlights of its Ligue 2 season. The Mayenne club is indeed hosting the prestigious Girondins de Bordeaux club at Le Basser. A first for 33 years. And it will be the first confrontation between these two historic French football clubs at this level. On the eve of this gala match, left-back defender Edson Seidou shares his feelings at the microphone of France Bleu Mayenne.

What are the particularities of this Bordeaux team?

“They are a team that combines well inside the game, which passes a lot through interior passes, combined play. As they are quite fair technically, they are able to combine in small spaces. We will therefore have to be vigilant on that.”

Is it possible to beat this Bordeaux team which has only lost once this season away from home?

“Of course it’s possible. I’ve always said it, even in previous years when I was playing in Ligue 2 Orléans for example, we’re going to have to make some moves against teams like that if we want to hope to maintain ourselves. respect, of course, this Bordeaux team. They are having a more than interesting start to the season. But we want to win our first game at home. And as I said, to keep going, we are not necessarily going to win all the matches against the teams “in our championship”. We have already lost two of them (Nîmes and Pau, editor’s note). So, we will have to make moves against teams like that.”

There is competition in your position, but you really want to play this match against Bordeaux?

“Of course we want to rub shoulders with players who aspire to play in Ligue 1 or maybe even more. So we want to play it. But, personally, I want to play Bordeaux as I want to play Pau or Annecy.

Laval is still looking for a first success at home, does that put you under any kind of pressure?

“It’s not a form of pressure. But it’s true that since the start of the season, we have been, at home, sometimes a little open. Quite simply, because we have remained on the dynamics of the last season when at home, we pressed hard. And then after a while, we got the upper hand on the opponent. So, we stayed in this logic there with interesting things on certain matches, in particular Guingamp or Metz. So no, not a form of pressure, but we have learned now. We know that this is a championship where we will have to be effective both offensively and defensively, and that if we are not, especially against this kind of teams, it’s going to be complicated if we want to get something.”
