The champagne sector is working on reducing the weight of its bottles, which are heavier than those of wine, to reduce their impact on the environment.
In the middle of the Champagne vineyards, a small revolution is taking place. With a banal appearance, this glass champagne bottle is the lightest in the world. It weighs 800 grams, compared to 835 grams for traditional bottles, which allows it to reduce its CO2 emissions. It was developed in a factory in Oiry (Marne). These 35 grams saved will reduce the carbon footprint of each bottle by 4%. To save them, it took months of design and testing before the bottle could be offered to customers.
Reduce its carbon footprint by 80% by 2050

The boss of the brand wants to go further, he has already abandoned all gift wrap and packaging, in reverse of the sector. The champagne sector aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 80% by 2050.
