We can already decide that the best show of the FEQ 2022 will be that of Hubert Lenoir and his group. Lenoir gave an electrifying performance on the Hydro-Québec stage (coincidence?).
My expectations were low for this show. A young local artist who had some pop success on the radio waves, with an androgynous and provocative label.
However, the delivery of his show is quite different. We are witnessing pop-rock whose rock accent goes far beyond the image we have of this artist. His musical group is solid and delivers a performance that has nothing to envy to what we can hear from rock, metal or even punk bands of international level. We also have jazzy passages with four musicians on saxophone.
But at least, here, it’s French!
Lenoir communicates with his audience, makes them interact. He launches into the crowd crowd surfing three times.
He moves and jumps energetically, makes his audience vibrate, keeps them in suspense. An energy transmitted to the public like communicating vessels. We quickly forget her outfit, a white dress with her legs in the air.
He begins his songs slowly and then screams into his microphone like a heavy metal singer, backed by frenzied music. Sensitive ears abstain!
Hubert Lenoir, despite his youth, is an accomplished artist of international caliber. He would have deserved the Bell Stage, on the Plains of Abraham.
