“Let our joy” not remain on the Goncourt Prize list

Kevin Lambert’s third novel, May our joy remain, published in Quebec by Héliotrope and in France by Nouvel Attila, did not make the second selection for the prestigious Goncourt prize. The author, caught stealing by The duty, reacted philosophically: “It’s already a lot to have been in the selection,” he commented.

For Kevin Lambert, who will turn 31 in a few days, “the Goncourt adventure is not over because I am participating in the Goncourt for prisoners and high school students, and it fills me with joy.”

The race at Goncourt continues for Jean-Baptiste Andrea, with Watch over her (The Iconoclast), Dominique Barbéris, with A way of loving (Gallimard), Gaspard Koening and his Humus (The Observatory), Laure Murat for Proust, family novel (Robert Laffont), Éric Reinhardt thanks to Sarah, Susanne and the writer (Gallimard), Antoine Sénanaque for Ash Cross (Grasset), Neige Sinnno with sad tigerPOL, a book that can be found on several prizes, and Jean-Philippe Toussaint for The Chessboard (Midnight). The winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 7.

Moreover, May our joy remain slips into the selection of 35e December Prize, “a sort of anti-Goncourt” created in 1989, with, again, sad tigerof Proust, family noveland also Strange by Geneviève Damas (Grasset), To my sister and onlye of Guy Boley (Grasset), and of The imaginary night by Hugo Lindenberg (Flammarion). Smaller, the December prize remains no less important, often acting as a scout for authors who will later find themselves in the major prizes for the next book. The winner will be announced on October 31.

Remember that Kevin Lambert’s book is also in the running for the Médicis Prize and the Page 111 Prize.

Further details will follow.
