Let go of the wringer, Yves Lambert

It is accompanied by the heart of his Bébert Orchestra – the violinist Tommy Gauthier and the guitarist Olivier Rondeau – that the dear Yves Lambert recorded this minialbum of six songs paying homage to the legendary author of Le Rapide-Blanc, Oscar Thiffault (1912-1998 ), stringing his compositions with cheerful reels and performed with the extreme agility to which these musicians have accustomed us. Except for this exception: My best friend, the most daring of this excellent EP. In the text, stuffed with humor like Thiffault’s repertoire is, the trio dared to arrange arrangements bringing Quebec folklore to the blues of the southern United States, thus giving a new dimension, even intention, to the song. Elsewhere, however, it’s party time, Gauthier’s violin in unison with Lambert’s accordion on the tender She’s the widow / Jig of the highways, the jitter that raises the mood on In the land of Bill Wabo / Le reel de miser (and his characters from Beautiful stories from the countries above) and on New Year’s Day / Reel of the resolution in conclusion.
