The Biathlon World Cup resumes its rights, Thursday March 3 at 2:30 p.m., in Kontiolahti (Finalande) with the women’s relay (4×6 km). While they had always been on the podium since the start of the season, the tricolor biathletes broke down at the Olympic Games (sixth place), committing too many shooting errors. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and her teammates, at the top of the relay standings after two victories and two third places, will try to find their way back to the box.
Second in Beijing, Russian biathletes will not be present in Kontiolahti after the decision of the International Biathlon Union to exclude Russia from its competitions, because of the invasion of Ukraine. Belarusian Dzinara Alimbekava, currently second in the World Cup, and her teammates will be absent for the same reasons.
Ahead of this race and while the war in Ukraine is still raging, the IBU wanted to pay tribute to the Ukrainian biathlete Yevhen Malyshev, 19, died while doing military service
In solidarity.
