“Les BB by Ludovick Bourgeois”: a gentle, moving and catchy return to time

He has the talent, charisma, ease, voice and features almost identical to those of Patrick Bourgeois, his famous late father. Ludovick Bourgeois certainly did honor to his father up there, Tuesday evening, during the comical, dancing and moving Montreal premiere of his BB tribute show.

Ludovick Bourgeois invited us to an evening full of sweet nostalgia on Tuesday at the Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts. The show The BB by Ludovick Bourgeois hits its target right at the heart: to introduce the melodies of the BB to the youngest (like him, in fact, who was only 3 years old when his father’s group dissolved in 1996) and, above all, to revive the fever of the former Beaux Blonds with an energy, a staging and a passion similar to those of the icons of Quebec song.

It felt like the 90s when Ludovick, his father’s blue guitar in hand and surrounded by his 5 excellent and dynamic musicians, performed the hits of BB in front of a crowd that seemed won over in advance. The great moments of loud singing and standing dancing in a supercharged Place des Arts? You’re in the moon, Thug, Be careful, Give me a chance, and the eternals You’ll never know And Loulou as final pieces.

A beautiful madness

On the wall, a giant screen revealed a montage of family video archives of Ludovick and Patrick Bourgeois as well as various moments of madness from the trio that marked an entire generation.

All around, projections, geometric shapes, neon lights, karaoke and other visual references to the 90s enhanced this lovely return in time. Effective staging by Joël Legendre.

“Thank you for allowing us to experience this, this beautiful madness,” said the young 31-year-old singer, who appeared emotional several times during the evening.

This gratitude, he explained, comes from his dad, with whom he had a great time at the Francofolies de Montréal in 2008 in front of 70,000 festival-goers, then sharing the stage with him on tour from 2014 to 2017. his mother too (“because it’s not just my father”, laughed the artist winning the sixth season of The voice), to whom he dedicated the song: I hold out my arms.

Seven years after the death of his father, Ludovick Bourgeois recounted, with great emotion and for the very first time, their last shared moment. The ultimate “I love you” from a father to his son and from the son to his pops before this big departure which took them both by surprise.

“He waited until he was alone to leave, as if he wanted to go into battle alone,” the young performer confided to the overwhelmed spectators before beginning the superb Alone in battle.

At the end of this hour and a half concert which went by as quickly as the 90s flew by for some, one thing is certain: the people present last night woke up this morning with a few BB earworms on their minds. and the impression of having made a certain Ludo (a worthy descendant of his famous father) their new friend.
