Legault reiterates his confidence in Marie-Eve Proulx despite a harassment complaint

François Legault reiterates his confidence in his MP and candidate for Côte-du-Sud, Marie-Eve Proulx, despite a new complaint filed against her for psychological harassment.

A former political attaché of Ms. Proulx has filed a complaint with the Administrative Labor Tribunal (TAT), according to information reported Tuesday by the Quebecor media investigation office. The alleged facts allegedly occurred after the MP lost her position as Minister Responsible for Regional Economic Development following several allegations of harassment in May 2021.

The Prime Minister currently believes in his MP’s version of this new file. “When I speak with Marie-Eve Proulx, she tells me that this person has no reason to have filed a complaint,” said Mr. Legault, questioned on this subject on the sidelines of the unveiling of the CAQ candidate in Laval-des-Rapides, Celine Haytayan.

The CAQ leader noted that the former political employee had already filed a complaint with the National Assembly and that it had not been retained.

“The word of one against the word of the other”

“It’s one man’s word against another man’s word. I trust Marie-Eve Proulx, who had no problems with that person. Now, we will wait for the court’s decision, ”said Mr. Legault, mentioning having zero tolerance for harassment.

In the eyes of the Liberal leader, Dominique Anglade, François Legault rather minimizes the seriousness of the alleged acts by keeping Ms. Proulx on her team for the October 3 elections.

“By agreeing to have candidates like these, François Legault endorses that and he sends a very bad message to the general population, but also to our youth,” she said at a press conference on Tuesday.

This is the second time that Ms. Proulx has been the subject of a complaint to the TAT. The first case ended with an amicable agreement that remained confidential.
