Prime Minister François Legault was understanding, Sunday, via-à-vis the truckers who demonstrated in Ottawa against compulsory vaccination for cross-border travel.

“It’s a small minority, but perhaps we should reach out to them,” said Mr. Legault on the sidelines of a press conference for the presentation of his candidate in the riding of Marie-Victorin.
“It’s important not to put all the truckers or all those who are not vaccinated in the same package. Truckers, we need them to deliver goods, food, ”he added, answering questions about the demonstrations in Ottawa and about the gym owners who reopened their doors on Sunday, defying the public health rules.
A total of 2,895 infected patients were still hospitalized on Sunday, down 80 beds. In doing so, almost 500 beds have been freed up in hospitals for about a week, noted the Prime Minister, adding that this number remains high.
“We are going in the right direction. These people, I just ask them to be patient,” he said.
“Take it easy, take it easy”
In addition, Mr. Legault suggested that new relief could be studied during a meeting scheduled for Monday evening with the acting national director of public health, Dr. Luc Boileau.
“What we are going to try to do together is to watch the projections. Try to see too [les effets] openings that we have already made, for example schools […], he detailed. Can we do more? We will remain cautious, and as I said, we will take it easy”.
“In this sense, Mr. Boileau and I are taking it easy,” continued the Prime Minister.
Last Thursday, Dr. Boileau had hinted that public health would announce the next reductions “one week at a time”, but without advancing on the next step.
