She was almost the first arrival among the candidates for the presidential election of 2022. DIn the Parisian procession of the demonstration of the teaching staff against the management of the Covid-19 epidemic at school on Thursday January 13, the socialist Anne Hidalgo made a point of saying that she had come to support this movement, support teachers, support public education services”.

And unlike the environmental candidate Yannick Jadot, the current mayor of Paris “don’t call” to the resignation of the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, at the heart of the protests of the demonstrators. “I call for a profound change in the politics of the country, and the presidential election is here to do so”, assures Anne Hidalgo.

But his passage in the demonstration, rapid, was heckled. “We don’t care if you show off”, “Annie, we are yellow vests”, chanted some protesters between boos. Emma Greinier, Senior Education Advisor (CPE) in high school Lucie Aubrac de Pantin, in Seine-Saint-Denis, estimates “that we arrive at such a critical situation” and “an anger so strong, that indeed we do not accept any recovery, whatever the political party”, explains this trade unionist at the SNES-FSU. “ATnne Hidalgo, I have nothing to do with it”.

Recovery or not, difficult to ignore this event for left-wing presidential candidates. Jean-Luc Mélenchon was present, to remind that “vst is the first mass demonstration of force by the teaching community in some time. That’s what Blanquer succeeded in: he demolished the school, but he managed to get everyone back to school. Not bad”, quips the candidate of La France insoumise.

Much more discreet, the popular primary candidate Christiane Taubira was also in the Paris procession.
