French actress Léa Seydoux will star in the new film adaptation of the erotic novel Emmanuelle.

The book, published in 1959 by Emmanuelle Arsan, recounts the sexual adventures of a young French girl who left to join her husband in Bangkok. Many versions have been made in the cinema, including the one made in 1974 by Just Jaeckin, with Sylvia Kristel in the title role, which was a huge success when it was released.
It is therefore the superstar Léa Seydoux, star of the two most recent James Bond films, who will play Emmanuelle in this new version whose core team is entirely female.
The film will be directed, in English, by Frenchwoman Audrey Diwan, who won with her second feature, The eventthe Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in September 2021. This shocking film, which tells the story of a student who wants an abortion in 1960s France, is based on a novel by Annie Ernaux .
Audrey Diwan will sign the screenplay forEmmanuelle in collaboration with director and screenwriter Rebecca Zolotowski.
