It was hoped for but some had some doubts: will they do it? Will they succeed in beating the last record, that of 81.20 meters held by Mayenne since the summer of 2021? It is now done.
To the delight of Manceaux residents and tourists who came to see this mythical event, the Artisans Bouchers Charcutiers et Boulangers de la Sarthe have made from ten-meter segments assembled end to end, the largest rillette sandwich in the world. Carefully measured, the giant snack bar is 101.43 meters.
250 baguettes, 60 kg of rillettes
The sandwich, carried by around fifty volunteers throughout the Place des Jacobins, was made in just one hour. It still took 250 baguettes and 60 kilos of rillettes to reach this incredible size.
The result was cut up and sold in shares for the benefit of the association La Cie Les Ailes du rire, which works to bring smiles back to young and old in hospitals and nursing homes.
