Laval: a sexagenarian perishes in a violent collision

A 65-year-old motorist lost his life in a violent collision Monday evening in Laval.

The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on boulevard Dagenais Ouest, near rue Esther, when the 60-year-old’s vehicle was violently hit head-on by another car.

The force of the impact and the speed of the oncoming car caused the hit vehicle to flip onto its roof.

The victim was transported to a hospital where he was declared dead, said a spokesperson for the Laval Police Service (SPL).

The other driver, a 52-year-old man, was also taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Alcohol and speed being the cause of this violent collision, the police arrested the 50-year-old, it was said.

Boulevard Dagenais was closed for a good part of the night between boulevards Gabriel and Curé-Labelle, while reconstructionists were expected on site.
