Laurentians | An exit from the road leaves seven injured, four of them seriously

(Quebec) A woman is in critical condition and six other people were injured during a road trip Wednesday in Amherst, in the Laurentians.

Posted at 8:46 p.m.

The swerve occurred around 4 p.m. on Route 323, heading north.

Seven people were in the vehicle when, for an as yet undetermined reason, the swerve occurred.

The vehicle ended up in a ditch.

“The extrication pliers have been requested,” said agent Nicolas Scholtus, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

“Of the seven people on board, a woman is in critical condition and six people were injured. Among these six people, three people were injured in a minor way and three others seriously. They were all transported to the hospital centre, ”said the SQ spokesperson.

No hypothesis was immediately favored to explain the tragedy, but the vehicle involved in this swerve was “regulatory” to accommodate all these passengers.

“An investigator and a collision investigation officer were dispatched to the scene to shed light on the causes and circumstances of this event,” said Mr. Scholtus.

Route 323 is closed in both directions at chemin Saint-Louis, in Amherst, for an indefinite period, to allow the police to do their job.

Motorists must make a four-kilometre detour via Chemin Saint-Louis.

The SQ investigation is continuing.
