A “potentially explosive device” was found Wednesday evening in the basement of an apartment building in the LaSalle borough, the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) reported.
Public relations officer Caroline Chèvrefils affirmed that the first police officers arriving on the scene had located the device outside, at the rear of the building. It “had been moved there by an occupant” of the building.
The call was made to 911 around 6:20 p.m. – the building in question is on George Street, not far from Bishop-Power Boulevard. There had been no evacuations at the time of writing. Likewise, the SPVM had not reported any injuries.
However, the scene was protected for members of the tactical intervention group who had to move to the scene while the investigation continues.
