Landesmuseum für Technik und Arbeit

Nothing is more captivating than technique!

Since January 1, 2010, the Landesmuseum für Technik und Arbeit in Mannheim has been called TECHNOSEUM.

This name change is another step on the way to a new positioning of the museum: the institution presents itself with a fundamentally reworked permanent exhibition and offers young and old alike a new approach to knowledge, as well as exciting experiences.

Alongside the Deutsches Museum in Munich and the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin, the TECHNOSEUM in Mannheim is one of the largest technical museums in Germany.

On more than 8,000 square meters of exhibition space, the history of industrialization is vividly presented.

The machines are not only shown, but also staged to give a real impression of the working world in times gone by.

Technicians explain the construction processes and individually answer questions from visitors, who can, for example, print postcards or make paper themselves. In the participative “Elementa” exhibitions, you can do optical, mechanical and electrotechnical experiments that will teach you the basics of physical and natural sciences.

Science and technology are presented in historical contexts and thus become understandable.

For those who want to get some fresh air, they are invited to take a walk in the museum park with the “Eschenau” railway dating from 1896, and whose departure is just in front of the museum.
