An accident involving three vehicles claimed the life of one of the drivers involved on Saturday evening in Saint-Côme, in the Lanaudière region.

The victim is a man in his forties from the Quebec region.
He had first lost control of his vehicle, shortly after 7 p.m., while traveling on Route 343.
“For a reason that remains unexplained at this time, a vehicle traveling southbound deviated from its lane to hit a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction,” said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Marythé Bolduc. evening.
A third vehicle, traveling north, was unable to avoid them.
“When the paramedics arrived, one person was in critical condition, the driver of the first vehicle who found himself in the opposite direction. This man was transported to the hospital center, where unfortunately he was declared dead, ”said another SQ spokesperson, Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay.
The other people escaped without serious injuries.
“The speed could have played a role in this collision,” said Sergeant Tremblay, Sunday morning, in an interview.
An SQ collision patrol was deployed to the scene in the evening and Route 343 was closed to traffic in both directions between Rang Grand-Beloeil and Route 347 for a period of time.
