Lake Louise World Cup | Marco Odermatt wins first super-G event

(Lake Louise) Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt won the World Cup men’s super-G on Sunday in Lake Louise, Alta.

The defending World Cup champion clocked one minute and 32.53 seconds over the 2.5 kilometer course to win the first super-G event of the season.

I feel very good. It’s a perfect start to the season for me. Got a downhill podium and now a super-G win.

Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who took the honors in Saturday’s downhill, took second place with a time of 1:32.90.

Austria’s Matthias Mayer, winner of last year’s super-G in Lake Louise, finished third with a time of 1:33.31.

Toronto’s James Crawford was the best Canadian of the day. He signed a 10e position. The 25-year-old Canadian, however, does not have a sense of accomplishment.

“I’m disappointed,” Crawford said. I made some stupid mistakes and didn’t execute the game plan well. »

Skiing is a fast sport, so I’m not worried about the future, but every day you don’t reach the level you are capable of, it’s not very pleasant.

Three Canadians who were leaving outside the top 30 managed to carve out a place in this one, led by Brodie Seger of Whistler at 13e rank.

Calgary’s Jeffrey Read placed 21e and Brodie Seger’s younger brother Riley finished 27e.
