La Rochelle wins its first European title

At the last minute, and for just a few centimeters, La Rochelle overthrew the Irish ogre of Leinster and became European champions on Saturday May 28. A first historic title, stunning, which capsized the yellow and black. The players congratulated each other for long minutes: they achieved the feat of beating the quadruple European champion. However, the Rochelais have never raced in the lead, always behind the scoreboard, but never left behind.

The Irish club, however arch favourite, did not successful to break through their defence. They were content to chain the penalties. The French scored two tries and everything was decided in the last ten minutes with, at the end, a try which marked the victory. The suspense, which lasted until the end, already gives this cut an unforgettable taste. Enough to ignite La Rochelle until the end of the night.
